Enter a destination URL, source, medium and campaign name to build your tracking URL.
How this builder works
Paste your destination URL and fill in source, medium and campaign. The URL assembles as you type. Existing parameters are kept, existing utm tags are replaced rather than duplicated, and anchors stay at the end where they belong.
The formula
utm_source is where the traffic came from, utm_medium is the channel, utm_campaign names the campaign. utm_term and utm_content are optional, used for paid keywords and for telling near-identical creatives apart.
Worked example
A Google Ads click to your services page becomes a URL carrying utm_source=google, utm_medium=cpc and utm_campaign=spring-sale, so the session is attributed to that campaign rather than lumped into generic traffic.
How to read your result
Keep everything lowercase and stick to one naming convention. GA4 treats Google and google as two different sources, which quietly splits your reporting in half and is tedious to unpick later.
Questions
Should I tag internal links on my own site?
No. Tagging internal links starts a new session and destroys the original attribution. Only tag links arriving from outside your site.
Do UTM parameters affect SEO?
They can create duplicate URLs if crawled. Use a canonical tag on the destination page and avoid tagging links that will be indexed.
What happens to a URL that is already tagged?
Existing utm parameters are replaced rather than duplicated, and any non-utm parameters are preserved untouched.
