How this calculator works
Enter your conversions, then pick whether you are measuring against website visitors or ad clicks. The field relabels itself so there is no ambiguity about which denominator is in play.
The formula
Conversion rate = Conversions ÷ (Visitors or Clicks) × 100. The two produce very different numbers from the same business, which is why the denominator must be stated.
Questions
Visitors or clicks — which should I use?
Clicks when judging an ad campaign, visitors when judging the website. Mixing them between reports is the most common cause of numbers that will not reconcile.
Should I use sessions or users?
Either, as long as you are consistent. Sessions produce a lower rate than users because one person can visit several times before converting.
