Google Ads Budget Calculator

Most budget questions are asked the wrong way round. Rather than asking what a budget might produce, this starts from the conversions you need and works back to what that costs.

Your assumptions All editable
Leads, sales or bookings you need from Google Ads.
Of the people who click your ad, how many convert. Use your own historical rate if you have one.
Your average CPC, or the Keyword Planner estimate for your keywords.

Method: Clicks needed = Target conversions ÷ (Conversion rate ÷ 100). Budget = Clicks × CPC. Implied CPA = Budget ÷ Target conversions. Daily budget = Monthly budget ÷ 30.4.

Projection

Enter your assumptions to see the projection and the figures behind it.

How this calculator works

Enter the conversions you want each month, the rate at which clicks convert, and what you expect to pay per click. The calculator works back through the clicks required to the monthly and daily budget, and shows the cost per conversion that implies.

The formula

Clicks needed = Target conversions ÷ (Conversion rate ÷ 100). Budget = Clicks × CPC. Daily budget = Monthly budget ÷ 30.4. Implied CPA = Budget ÷ Target conversions.

Worked example

To win 50 conversions a month at a 3% conversion rate you need about 1,667 clicks. At $4.50 a click that is roughly $7,500 a month, or $247 a day — an implied $150 per conversion.

How to read your result

Every rate here is one you supplied, so the output is only as good as those assumptions. Use Keyword Planner for a CPC estimate and your own analytics for conversion rate. Then treat the result as a starting budget to test, not a forecast.

Questions

Google Keyword Planner gives estimates for your keywords, or use your own account history. Expect real CPCs to differ, particularly early while Quality Score settles.

Run a small test budget first and measure it. Guessing this number is what makes a budget plan worthless, because the whole calculation pivots on it.

Usually not. Start smaller, verify the rates hold, then scale. The maths assumes performance stays constant as you spend more, which is rarely exactly true.
